DAYS 154-161: Treasure Island Anchorage to Gulfport Municipal Marina

Treasure Island Anchorage to Gulfport Marina: 5.6 mph; 6.6 miles; 1:10 hours

We have great friends. So much happened this week; my new found calmness made all the crazy possible.

Gulfport Municipal Marina:

$12.5/ft for a week plus a Boat US Discount. Electric/water; showers/bath; coin laundry (more expensive in Florida: about $2.00 wash and .25/5 min dryer). The marina is a tight fit but very secure. Moorings are about $19/day; we were leaving the boat unattended for a week in NOLA so opted for a slip.

Beautiful Gulfport:

Downtown Gulfport is within walking distance from the marina. It's a funky weird place and I loved every minute. We had dinner at Pia’s the first night. We've learned that walking in early for dinner always works out - no reservations needed. If you’re planning on a group, or dinner after 6:30, you’ll need reservations. Enjoyed a big Greek dinner at the Neptune Grill with Crystal Z; followed with drinks and live music at The North End Tap House.

New Orleans for Thanksgiving

Got to NOLA via a Chicago layover - gotta love Spirit flights. The first night we walked to Chloe’s for dinner with Kabir before the rest of the group arrived. Had him all to ourselves and he's fun company. We have planned a Friendsgiving with Kabir and Co. in New Orleans this year. Paige & Kennan and Anita were there to celebrate with us. No cooking this year, picked up the entire dinner from Rouse’s Market for about $110. Paige and I went somewhere to get our nails done and searched for an art shop while the fellas and Anita visited with Stacey in the chambers. Later we went to Pascal’s for dinner (twice during our visit), and drinks in the Quarter at The Pirate’s Alley Cafe (best Pimm’s Cup); some other place that didn’t matter (asked to see Paige’s immunization card - but not anyone elses and the place was packed), and the Napoleon House (limited staff was NOT the problem - the waiter was really into himself and didn’t write down the entire order). The guys went to the WW2 museum while we looked into art shops and Shoe-Be-Do (fancy shoe place). I actually had a job at Shoe-Be-Do; they have a table at the door for you to place your drinks and I found it necessary to guard our drinks so we weren’t drugged and sold into the sex-trade business - I also welcomed guests and announced the 20% off deal for the weekend to shop locally - think I made a sale.

Crystal Zorich:Besides being the great person that she is and ushering us to and from the airport, we went to the St Pete Shopping Palooza and the new St Pete Pier for the day. I really love my Crystal time - she is so much fun! She even finagled me into holding an alligator!
